Armed Monks

What exactly is happening here? Why are Monks carrying assault rifles? Something deep down has gone wrong with the way that this world thinks.

The latter stories identify him as “A Mandressed as a Buddist monk,” rather than simply “A monk.” So I wonder if he really was a monk or not. It’s still disheartening. Anyone have more information?
